Instructional Designer 3D Modeller Unity Generalist Available for work

Melanie Leemans

Digital experiences, built around how people actually learn

Hey! I'm an Instructional Designer, 3D Modeller, and Unity Generalist with experience across eLearning, game development, IT, and project management.

I build interactive eLearning in Articulate Rise 360 and Storyline, model game-ready 3D assets in Maya, Blender, and ZBrush, and set them up in Unity.

Professional Scrum Master I, comfortable running projects in Jira, Asana, and ClickUp.

More about how I work

On the eLearning side, that means translating technical procedures and O&M manuals into clear, step-by-step learning, packaged for SCORM/xAPI delivery and built to WCAG accessibility standards.

On the 3D side, I texture in Substance Painter and handle the Unity setup: prefabs, colliders, Addressables, UI built from Figma designs, and level layout.

I also work as a QA tester, so I'm just as happy finding the bugs as building the thing.

Whether it's an eLearning module, a 3D asset, or a Unity build, I care about the same thing: work that's technically sound and genuinely usable by the people it's built for.

eLearning Portfolio

Rube Goldberg Machine

Scenario-based eLearning

Rube Goldberg Machine

ClientPersonal Project

A scenario-led course that introduces Unity physics through a workshop challenge, where learners build a chain-reaction machine.

Each topic connects to a part of the build, so rigidbodies, hinges, and spring joints are always tied to something the learner is making rather than taught in isolation.

Work included:

  • Custom workshop artwork and a guide character used across the course
  • A build sequence moving from planning into Unity setup and physics components
  • A sequencing task and troubleshooting cards covering common setup problems
  • Consistent menu, controls, and card behaviour from screen to screen
Mine Site Safety Induction

Compliance induction

Mine Site Safety Induction

ClientPersonal Project

A modular mine-site induction built for LMS delivery, organised into short sections covering site zones, PPE, traffic, hazards, and emergency response.

Every section opens with an estimated time and a plain-language goal, so learners know what they are about to cover and how long it will take.

Work included:

  • Module structure with estimated times and section goals
  • Mine-site image hotspots for site zone and location awareness
  • PPE callouts and sign-recognition flip cards
  • Knowledge checks throughout the course

03 What I offer

Services

I design and build eLearning modules in Articulate Rise 360, Storyline, and H5P, translating complex processes and technical procedures into clear, step-by-step interactive learning.

Production covers screen recordings and walkthroughs in Camtasia, animated explainers in Vyond, motion graphics in After Effects, and visual assets in Photoshop, Illustrator, and Canva.

Content is packaged for SCORM/xAPI delivery through platforms like Moodle, PageUp, and LAAMP, and built to WCAG accessibility standards.

I've delivered training for energy sector and government clients, from site inductions to compliance and technical procedure training.

  • Working with SMEs and stakeholders to identify learning needs and shape content
  • Writing scripts, scenarios and storyboards for digital learning and video
  • Creating learner guides, facilitator resources, videos and supporting communications

I'm also experimenting with HTML and game engines to bring the gaming, 3D, and education sectors together, building interactive activities that run inside a standard eLearning module.

See the eLearning work

I create clean, game-ready 3D assets in Maya and Blender, sculpted and detailed in ZBrush where needed, and textured in Substance Painter.

This covers modelling with tidy topology, efficient UV unwrapping, baking high-to-low maps (normal, AO, curvature), and optimising meshes and materials for target poly, draw call, and memory budgets.

I also build personal portfolio pieces as a hobby to keep pushing my modelling and texturing skills.

See the 3D work

I set up 3D assets in Unity (pivots, colliders, prefabs, light and occlusion maps, Addressables) and build UI/UX from Figma designs into working Unity Canvas layouts.

This covers level design that balances challenge and accessibility, testing interfaces and builds across devices for stability and correct rendering, and general in-engine implementation and polish.

I also test software applications and games as a QA tester: manual and automated testing, defect tracking, and regression testing.

Professional Scrum Master I, running project and QA workflows with the Scrum methodology and tracking work in Jira, Asana, and ClickUp.

This covers requirements gathering with SMEs and stakeholders through storyboarding, review, and sign-off, and logging tasks and bugs with work-in-progress captures for fast feedback loops.

I've run this alongside delivery rather than separately from it, overseeing QA process on projects I was also building for.
